Staff abuse on the rise

Published 09/06/2021

A national survey revealed more than 75% of staff currently suffer daily abuse from patients, with the majority (78%) facing threatening behaviour, racist or sexist abuse from patients, and 83% reporting having called the police for help at some point. Because of these staggering figures, on the 20th May 2021, the Institute of General Practice Management (IGPM) launched their campaign "If I die it will be your fault" to highlight the issue and the nature of abuse directed towards general practice staff. The video can be found here. We would like to request that our staff are treated respectfully and where a patient has concerns or complaints our staff will assist you in tyring resolve them.

Our practice remained open throughout the COVID pandemic and we continued to see patients face to face whenever there was a need. Between January and May 2021, our GP's and Advanced Clinical Practitioners at the Churchview Health Centre had 12,483 patient contacts which is a 25% increase when compared to the same period in 2019.
